What this QR code generator does
A QR code is a square grid of black and white modules that a phone camera can read and turn back into text. This tool takes whatever you type into the content box, such as a web address, a sentence, an email link or a phone link, and produces a black-and-white QR image of 300 × 300 pixels that you can save as a PNG.
Where the image is made
The code is drawn inside your browser when you click Generate QR Code. The text you enter is never sent to FreeToolsHub or to any other service. Anyone who scans a printed code can still read its contents, so do not encode passwords or bank details.
How to create a QR code
- Type or paste your content into the Content (URL or text) box. It accepts several lines, and line breaks become part of the encoded text.
- Click Generate QR Code. If the box is empty, nothing happens.
- Check the preview on the right. It is displayed at 250 pixels, while the image itself is 300 pixels square.
- Click Download PNG. Some browsers open the image in place of saving it. If that happens, go back and right-click the image to save it.
Worked example
Suppose you are printing a table card for a café that links to its menu at https://example.com/menu. Paste that address, click Generate, and save the PNG. Before you print, scan the preview with your phone. If the phone opens the menu page, the code is correct. A QR code permanently stores the text it was made from, so if the address changes you must generate a new code.
Tips and limits
- Keep content short. Long URLs produce denser patterns that are harder to scan.
- Use full web addresses. Include https:// so that phones open the link in a browser.
- Plan the print size. The PNG is 300 pixels square. For a large poster, use a generator that exports vector files, and keep the printed code at least about 2 cm wide.
- Black and white only. Colours, logos and custom shapes are not available here.
- Test before printing. Scan the code with two or more phones, in the lighting where people will use it.

What can I encode in a QR code?
You can encode a web address, plain text, an email link written as mailto:, a phone link written as tel:, or other short text. A QR code holds at most about 2,900 bytes, and shorter content makes a simpler pattern that scans more reliably.
How do I scan a QR code?
Point your phone camera at the code. Most modern phones read QR codes in the camera app without extra software. The free Google Lens app can also read them.
What size should a printed QR code be?
This tool produces a 300 × 300 pixel PNG. For print, make the code at least about 2 cm (0.8 inch) wide, since larger codes scan more easily from a distance. For very large prints, use a generator that exports vector files.
Can I change the colours or add a logo?
No. This tool only makes standard black-and-white QR codes. Custom colours, logos and shapes need a dedicated design tool.
Is the text I enter sent to another service?
No. The QR code is drawn in your browser, so the text you enter is not sent to any server. Do not generate codes for passwords or private account details.
